: : //Willem typed: "secondly : Lurulu has been finished and handed over to TOR (see the mainpage)"

: : Beg pardon. I hadn't noticed the information on "mainpage" saying Lurulu had been finished, um, and I still don't notice it. Ah well.

:
: : **wink** Donna

: I think Willem is referring to the entry on the main page for 05 march.Selling the rights dosen't indicate a finished product straight away unfortunately!

Right Lyall: what I ment is this :
"Vance, Jack sold Lurulu (sequel to Ports of Call) to Tor (Locus Mar 1998)'. Marvellous. Although it probably means a (very) late 1999, early 2000 publication date."
I have several reasons to believe it ment the book:
- I remember distinctly that the rights had been sold years ago.
- Tor would not publish Ports of Call without having acquired the rights to the sequel already (an assumption I admit, but logic)
- normally the publication of the book is about 9 months after finishing the typescript (coincidence?). A publication date end 99/beginning 2000 fits that calculation.
might be that Mike is able to comment?
If Donna had information otherwise : let us know please.
btw: a very sharp plan : using a bit of feminine charm is something most of us could not use to draw an ARC into our possesion. What I see from your email address is that you would have to fly quite a distance before you get to Jack Vance.
Seriously: suppose he would have accepted your offer, would you go?
Still: my main purpose was to see how people would react to FS ARC Lurulu? and stimulate discussion. If it would result in a copy I would love it. An ARC has more value to me before publication of the book then afterwards.

bye
Willem
