Everytime I go into a bookstore, of course I check the SF shelves for Jack Vance titles. I'm usually disappointed, I think my last pleasant surprise was back in '94 when I found "Throy"
in pb on the Mall's B.Dalton bookshelves. I'll bet you've noticed it too- there's always a space where JV should be and it's between John Varley and Joan D. Vinge. Both of these writers are consistently in-stock and usually have two or three titles on the shelves. It's just a shot in the Dark-but they're obviously popular so it's conceivable one or both are pretty good. Anybody know anything? Should a Vance-phile risk his hard-earned $5.99 and pick up any of Vinge's or Varley's novels?
Which ones? If anybody knows anything, I'll appreciate getting
clued in. Thanks.
