Years ago I was reading the Jack Vance entry in the Contemporary Literary Criticism (CLC) reference at the library, and it included a statement to the effect that "Mr. Vance is so reclusive and absents himself so thouroughly from the SF social
scene that for a time it was thought ny many that "Jack Vance" was simply a pseudonym used by SF writer Henry Kuttner". I looked up Kuttner and he wasn't listed then for some reason I never followed it up. Now I've come across an old Jack Vance "Ace" double, "Houses of Iszm/Son of the Tree" which is a library discard. It's listed on the librarians little card pouch inside as by Kuttner, Henry, even though the cover page and front covers clearly indicate Jace Vance's authorship. Does anybody know anything about Henry Kuttner, who or what he was and if he is a writer, what has he written. If the critics were confusing him with Vance he must be pretty good, no? --Dom
