: : : Henry Kuttner has written a huge amount, much of it deservedly ranked among the classics of early SF. He wrote with and without C.L. Moore (apparently each had a large hand in the other's work, even when not acknowledged), and the two of them used many other pseudonyms, notably Lewis Padgett.
: : I have the strong recollection (although in recent years have come to wonder if some of what I "remember" hasn't been imagined) that Henry Kuttner and C.(Catherine?) L. Moore were husband and wife. If so, this would account for mutual influences.
: Yes it would!! Kuttner and Catherine Lucille Moore were indeed married. I know they wrote at least starting in the early 40'S and maybe even the 30's. Some speculation that Moore was the stronger writer but females weren't "accepted" in SF back then. Even when published under their own names it's generally thought that most of their books were co-written. Also wrote as Lewis Padgett and Lawrence O'Donnell among others. As O'Donnell they wrote "Vintage Season" which if it's the story I think I remember was made into a movie or tv movie. If it's the story I'm thinking of, it's time travelers going back to "party" and observe great disasters of the past. They also wrote "Mimsy Were the Borogoves" - a pulp short published in 1943. Have totally forgotten what the story was about but have never forgotten this title. Wonder if I would like it today?
I wonder whether there are any anthologies written by them in print - I know there are in French - the French tend to preserve the classics.
