Movie Version of Suldren's Garden - casting ideas

I think Alan Rickman or David Warner would make eminently suitable King Casmirs.
Suldren could be played by Kate Blanchett.
I'm having trouble thinking of suitable actors for the other major parts (Shimrod, Aillas, Glyneth, Father Umphred, Faude Carphiliot, Melancthe), though several amusing and improbable casting decisions do spring to mind - imagine Leonardo Di Caprio as Aillas! Actually it's best not to. It could happen!
Imagine the breathy, rumbling voice-over to the film trailer:
"Prince Aillas....a man on a quest to avenge his loved one across a land long forgotten, out of time, in a world where magic is more than just a fairy tale...where heroes fight the forces of darkness for control of the lost kingdom of Atlantis.....Twentieth Century Fox brings you to the edge of reality in Steven Spielberg's epic....." ARRGGGHHH!!!!!!!
Of course it would probably be best if Hollywood left Vance stories well alone, I mean look what they did to Phillip K. Dick and Robert Sheckley's work.
Still, it's fun to dream that they could get an SF/Fantasy adaptation right at least once! Perhaps I'm too cynical ;-)

Anyone else have any ideas?
