: : I think Alan Rickman or David Warner would make eminently suitable King Casmirs.
: : Suldren could be played by Kate Blanchett.
: : You are right about Alan Rickman, but he would be a great Faude Carfilhiot. King Casmir is more difficult - possibly Sir Anthony Hopkins looking like Richard Attenborough? And Demi Moore as Tatzel the Ska? (Shudder)

: Alan Rickman is cool - remember the Sheriff of Nottingham? But I think he's too crafty looking for either Casmir or Faude (who as I remember is younger and more handsome) - I still vote for Sean Connery as Casmir (Anthony Hopkins too soft looking). As for Faude - since he is a "twin scion" of Desmei and I like Demi Moore as Melancthe - has Demi got a brother? Kate Blanchett as Suldrun is cool.
: And I still think Uma Thurman has that edge in her face and mannerisms to play Tatzel - again Demi is too sweet-looking.

Anthony Hopkins, Uma Thurman, Demi Moore.... these are some excellent ideas. Perhaps Anthony Hopkins would be good as Murgen, or a whole bunch of actors could play the part as Dean McMillan suggested in a previous posting. Demi Moore could play both Desmei and Faude Carphiliot; I'm sure she'd see it as a challenge!
Keanu Reeves was very good in 'Much Ado About Nothing' so he could be a contender for the coveted Aillas role (I hope I don't sound like I'm taking this too seriously because I'm not, honest :-)); I haven't mentioned the English actors Hugh Grant or Kenneth Branagh for the part simply because they seem too old to play Aillas. Perhaps one of them could play the part of the charismatic Sir Tristano in the sequel The Green Pearl.
Uma Thurman as Tatzel is a really good idea.
I also thought Dean McMillan's previous posting had alot of very good ideas though John Cleese is surely too thin to play Father Umphred!
This is just a thought but does anyone remember a film called Excalibur? As it concerned Arthurian legend and it was very ably directed by John Boorman, he could be first choice for the task of directing Lyonesse. Though flawed, Excalibur was an atmospheric, intelligent treatment of the King Arthur legend and featured some very well put together battle scenes as well as stunning sets. These must be things we would like to see in a film version of Lyonesse.
