I haven't mentioned the English actors Hugh Grant or Kenneth Branagh for the part simply because they seem too old to play Aillas. Perhaps one of them could play the part of the charismatic Sir Tristano in the sequel The Green Pearl.

I always thought of Hugh Grant as a week actor - until I saw the very black "An Awfully Big Adventure" in which he plays a very disturbed amateur theatre director - look out for it, it's weird.

: I also thought Dean McMillan's previous posting had alot of very good ideas though John Cleese is surely too thin to play Father Umphred!

Remember, size and looks can be changed easily these days with clever padding and latex masks, e.g. Mrs Doubtfire (but I've seen better examples). How 'bout Rowan Atkinson for Brother Umphred? I reckon he'd also make a cool Cugel.
