The five Shea titles are:
1) Quest for Simbilis (the original Cugel followup preceding Cugel's Saga) - Very good read. Nearly up to Vance and darker as you say. No where near the kind of humor but Shea's descriptions are fabulous. Also his cultures are beautifully described.

2) Nifft The Lean - Good read also, but to my mind, much more like Fritz Leiber's Fafrhrd (or however you spell that) and the Gray Mouser series.

3) In Yana The Touch of the Undying - My favorite Shea, though little known. Fumbling anti-hero who actually enobles himself during the progress of the book.

4) Mines of Behemoth - Shea's newest with wonderful descriptions of the underground demon lands (Shea ALWAYS has the threat from the underground -don't know why).

5) The Color Out of Time - HP Lovecraft wrote The Color out of Space (I think) and Shea writes a modern followup to the story. It is horror genre - not my fave - but quite readable sounding like Edgar Allen Poe.

All of the Shea titles are available if you look closely and are patient in the user stores. ABE is Advanced Book Exchange: http://whipper.abebooks.com/abep/il.dll
