I recently corresponded with Michael Shea (he is one of my favorite writers) and he mentioned that the Nifft book (titled "The A'rak") is at Baen now - whether they take it or pass on it I don't know. He is finishing "Mr. Cannyharme" which is a Lovecraftian tale set in the seamy side of San Francisco. That sounds like an interesting change of locale from the usual ancient New England settings.
