: It's very interesting you should say that. I have actually
: suggested it to Mr. Gilliam himself, some six years ago when
: he was our guest at the Swedish Cinematheque where I work. It
: was during our preview of his "The Adventures of Baron
: Munchausen" that I had this epiphany. At the subsequent
: cocktail party I approached him after most of the paparazzi
: had left and asked him if he had ever read Vance. The answer
: was negative and he had never even heard of him. But, as he
: said, "maybe I should read him, because my middle name is
: Vance." My only regret is that I did not at that juncture
: carry a copy of one of the Cugel books to present him with. If
: I had, the world might have been a different place.
:
: As an aside, Mr. Gilliam is American, not British. He has
: worked a lot in Britain, however.

Has he ever done a movie with a US studio? The ones that I can recall which studio have all been British and his movies really do have a more British feel than American. Not so odd that I new he was American, but he came first to mind when the idea of British movies was mentioned.
Maybe we should find an address and send him _The Dying Earth_ and _Eyes of the Overworld_.
