: If we were making movies from Jack's books who would you pick for the characters? I think Arnold Schwartzenegger would make a good Kirth Gersen. John Saxon in his younger days might make a good Adam Reith. Glyneth Paltrow would make a good Suldren. Orson Wells for King Casimir. Keith Carridine for Ailles.
: Any thoughts?
I definitely would not recommend Schwartzenegger for Kirth Gersen because he usually plays the big, dumb type of characters. I'm not saying he is a bad actor, just does not fit the Keith Gersen type. Gersen was intelligent and resourceful. Maybe Ralph Fiennes or Nicolas Cage would be a good Gersen or Reith. I didn't know Orson Welles was still alive. Anyways I think he's too old to be King Casmir. I assumed King Casmir was in his forties. I think Gwyneth Paltrow would be an excellent Suldrun. She has that shy, tentative look plus she is also very attractive. I can't think of anyone better for the role.
If a movie was made, I wished Vance himself could write the screenplay. Most movies these days are just plain bad due to bad acting, bad directing, and especialy bad script. Godzilla was a very good example of how NOT do direct a movie. I can't believe so many people actually paid to watch that movie. Some of my favorite directors include James Cameron, Steven Spielberg, Billy Wilder, Frank Capra, Alfred Hitchcock, and William Wyler.
