No, it's not exclusively male ... I've been a devout Vanceophile for many many years now (well, quite a few, put it that way), and I'm definitely female. However, I have noticed that Jack Vance tends to have a greater appeal to men ... why this should be, I have no idea. One of the things I find so wonderful about his novels is the richness of description, something I would have thought would be very interesting for women. I have introduced 'Lyonesse' to a few female friends, who enjoyed it very much, but strangely enough, they weren't
prompted to rush out and buy all the Vances they could find (that was my reaction after my first Vance) :-)
