: No, it's not exclusively male ... I've been a devout Vanceophile for many many years now (well, quite a few, put it that way), and I'm definitely female. However, I have noticed that Jack Vance tends to have a greater appeal to men ... why this should be, I have no idea. One of the things I find so wonderful about his novels is the richness of description, something I would have thought would be very interesting for women. I have introduced 'Lyonesse' to a few female friends, who enjoyed it very much, but strangely enough, they weren't
