I agree that a collection of existing supposed Vancian work might be interesting, but the editor would be endlessly taken to task for including or omitting this or that story. Based on the later discussion of the wide variety of Vance's (imagined) politics, one might suppose almost anything could be put into the Vance homage.
However, how about having TOR commision a collection of short stories like the Saberhagen _Berserker Base_ which has stories written by Poul Anderson, Edward Bryant, Stephen Donaldon, Larry Niven, Fred Saberhagen himself, Connie Willis, and Roger Zelazny on the single idea of Berserkers?
These stories in the Vance collection would be written on a particular Vance topic: perhaps The Dying Earth or unknown early episodes of the Demon Princes or the latter days of Lyonesse?
I believe Vance took part in a similar commision in the Vance, Brunner, Niven _Three Trips in Space and Time_ on a single idea.
