Years past, I began to try my hand at writing in the style of Vance and used recipes as a format -- in the main because they tend to be short, descriptive and cast in the imperative.

For a title, I had thought "Gastronomical Guide to the Gaean Reach" or "The Ouikiumene Gourmand", with the subtitle "Adapted for use with Ingredients of Old Earth" or some such.

I'll have another look at them and see if I can summon the courage to post one or two. Perhaps, if Mr. Vance would countenance it, we might all contribute some of our own particular favorites from the Blue Ox, or Smades -- or even a Darsh dumble -- and publish them discretely (here).
