Terry,
A lot of people have never heard of ABE. If you look at all the posts, some people on this board do not even know about Ebay much less ABE. Ebay is big time, stock market, famous - everybody knows about it. And just think, the guy who started Ebay (probably a billionaire by now with an IPO)did so because his wife wanted a web site to sell her Pez dispenser collection!!

: Yeah, I just checked ebay again and was coming over here to confess being wrong about some fool buying _VotV_ for $300. I suppose this might be a face saving, shill offer, but may be genuine. Can't see why this "lao" who bought it didn't see all the other ABE offers at lower prices.
: The only thing I see that ebay has going for it (IMO) is pictures, which for a collector are important given that one person's VG++ is another's poor.
: I recently bought a copy of the Detective Book Club edition of _The Man in the Cage_ which was *supposed* to be NF.
: I believe near-fine means a book that basically looks like it did when published but has excedingly small defects. The main defect this one had was a piece missing from the spine about the size of one's little fingernail. Not my idea of NF, and a picture would have shown a truer actual condition.
: That said, there are good buys on ebay in Vance material, but it's catch as catch can and if you come up against a determined bidder, there are only higher prices.
