I see Vance as an astute observer - an historian, if you will - of the
various philosophies and politics of the Reach and beyond (the fact that
these beliefs are his own creation seems almost irrelevant). It almost
seems as though he goes to great lengths to avoid endorsing any particular
persuasion: he merely expounds them (quite rationally, if you as me).
