I was interested to hear the comments about Vance's descriptive writing about food, as I've often thought that myself. My stomach starts rumbling every time I read his descriptions of the delicious fair on offer at the various inns and taverns.
As for Lyonesse, Jack Vance is by far my favourite author, and I think that as far as I'm concerned, Lyonesse is my favourite series of his, that I have read.
I recently posted my top 5 books of all time in the newsgroup uk.media.books.sf and included this series in my selection. I wonder how many others would agree.
I'm always on the look out for new authors and new books to read, and although this isn't quite the forum, I'd be grateful for any suggestions.
