Speaking for myself, and I'm sure also on behalf of the U.K.'s appreciators as a whole, I'd also like to wish Mr Vance a (somewhat belated) Happy 80th Birthday.
I've been enjoying the works of Jack Vance for little more than a quarter of his lifespan. His writings have brought me more pleasure and enjoyment than could possibly be described within the necessary limitations of this message.
Mr Vance, suffice to wish you 'slainthe', - Gaelic for 'good health' - as I drink a gentleman's measure of the Macallan to your honour.
