I am a newbie to the internet, but a lifelong Jack Vance affectionado. Please forgive any mistakes.
Some years ago I wrote a letter to Mr Vance; if I remember correctly it was about my appreciation of his 'Dying Earth' works.
Some weeks later he replied. He was interested because I live in Scotland. His letter describes the origins of his family in southwest Scotland and goes on to talk about his, and his son's, interest in sailing.
I have treasured this letter for years and I wondered if any of his followers might be interested in seeing it on these pages.
I didn't even imagine there was a Jack Vance site before tonight. Best Regards.
