: Does anyone know if any of Jack Vance's mystery novels eg Man in the Cage have ever appeared in print in the UK, and if so, a source? Nothing to do with Cugel at all, really

According to Hewett's bibliography, Man in the Cage was pubbed by Mayflower books back in 1961, and hasn't been in print in the UK since then. The easiest edition to obtain is the Underwood-Miller limited edition, for perhaps $60.

The two easiest mysteries to obtain in Britain are probably the ones written as "Ellery Queen": The Madman Theory and A Room To Die In, both pubbed by Kinnell.

If you have access to Usenet, try posting a message on "uk.media.books.sf". You can also search a multitude of book dealers at MX BookFinder at "http://www.mxbf.com/".
