I don't know if I have the correct Web address...I am trying to locate a movie that my grandfather did back in 1953 or 1956...called: Beast With a Million Eyes...I have been trying to locate a Sci-Fi channel, to get them to play the movie...my children have never seen their great-grandfather...he died of a massive heart attack when I was seven. And, of course, my mother has no pictures of her father...this is the only way my children would be able to see him...It's an old B movie. Dick Sargeant was also in this movie. : : Just saw Jack Vance on the SciFi Buzz show on the SciFi Channel, and I'd say that in referring to his work he came across as arrogant and elitist. Of course, I couldn't argue with his discription of his fans as (paraphrasing) intelligent, sophisticated and cultured.
: I'm sure we all blushed when Vance described us; I know I did. And as Frank Lloyd Wright is supposed to have quipped, 'Honest arrogance is better than false humility.' He didn't sound like Asimov, anyway. I'd like to see the entire interview uneditted, and it's too bad we didn't get a word or two of his award speech. Or more of the Vance house, which must be amazing.
