: A couple of months ago (say, June 1997) I was reading a web site that metioned Michael Shea's "Quest for Simbilis".

: The writer went on to mention Shea's later book, Vancean in flavour if not in detail, and then named yet another author as perhaps being more successful than Shea in capturing the Vancean spirit.

: Now, I cannot find this web page and stupidly didn't write down the name of that other author.

: No, not Tanith Lee, nor Michael Moorcock, nor any other well known author.

: Any suggestions, either for the author's name or the URL I've lost?

Agree with reply above: L.Warren Douglas. Another suggestion from his books; he also wrote " Bright Islands in a Dark Sea " which I liked very much. From the Arbiter tales, I preferred The Wells of Phyre
AND NOW THE WEBPAGE, you are already there. It is THIS page , look down at " re;E.C.Tubb and Vance " from Gene Muehlbauer on 1/29/97
Btw1 nice joke to ask for a page you lost, on the page itself reminds me of the professor with his spectacles on his forhead asking have you seen my glasses :-)
btw2 what does the number after a name/time /date of an entry mean. this is for Mike.
