The question below was first entered in the guestbook, but it maybe more for the BBS: why has Jack Vance in separate books a Dutch Villain or at least a Nasty Person, once directly identified as Dutch in a mystery. In the SF novel one can deduct it is a person from Dutch origin, given the geographical directions. However the name looks more german. I got one reaction sofar (Gary Escobedo/pls send your correct emailaddress)
The answer on the why can only come from Jack Vance himself.
Does anybody know the year of writing (not publishing) of the mystery novel I mean ? (I can'l tell which or the riddle in the guestbook is solved- see there also)
