: Cool. Hard to believe, there is other folk who apprieciate "Vanceisms". I propose a game-a memerable quote from a Vance novel wins the big prize.......(The next quote/quiz)
: NOTE: these are from memory and not verbatim-so slack off.
: 1) ****** why do you lie amongst the cheeses?
: 2)...._MY_ favorite, also from a poor memory, but the primary quote that I think illuminates much of Vance's perspective:
Tchai native on seeing Reith's solution to the puzzle of the eel races, "You have used a unique thought process to achive what I now see to be the limpid truth."
Adam Reith replies, "The process is called logic, and it is not infallible."
Logic is an essential element in Vance's stories, and even the bad guys/monsters are very logical about their desires and how to achieve them.
