There's lots more. However, I don't know that "winning the empire" applies to the Connatic, let alone "being straightforward."

By the way, the "Arbiter" series by L. Warren Douglas is about a Connatic-like character. In the first book, "Stepwater", Vance gets the first paragraph in the Acnowledgements. Douglas does not have Vance's flair for dialogue, but it was an entertaining read.
