More interesting than my first thought--that Phung obtain garments from the occasional unlucky Pnume--is your suggestion, Willem, that they may engage in a sort of trade. Perhaps 75 years from now, a literary historian may amuse his dissertation committee with a functional view of the "underground" economy of Tschai. (And might it not include a discussion of sartorial knockoffs of Pnume-wear as produced by certain Phung?)
