: There are Bulgarian translations of Vance? This is news and if so, what's been translated. I know about the Russian and own 4 of them. Think they're the more popular SF stuff like _POA_ and from the Dying Earth cycle. How big an audience is there in eastern Europe?

Vance has been well known in Bulgaria since the beginning of the 90's when two of his novellas were translated in various anthologies. Those works are The Dragon Masters and The Moonmoth. Last year (1998) The Dying Earth was finally published. I'm not sure how big is his audience here - all I know is that people read him but he is far from the success of writers such as Zelazny, Herbert or Asimov (for now). I hope it's only the beginning.
