I have come to realise that I'm not a big fan of many science fiction works
simply because they rely too heavily on scientific details that I know (or
believe - it's the same to me :-) to be erroneous, or at least inconsistent.
This is not true with Vance, who IMO does a good job of keeping scientific
distractions to a minimum - and even then he tends to get things right (or
at least consistent with the universe he is painting).
