Re: Hugo award winner Eric Frank Russell

Please give us the title of the racist story and the two anti-racist stories he wrote. Interested in why you say he "deliberately" wrote the anti-racist stories. Didn't he also deliberately write the story you think is racist? He was pretty tight with John Campbell so this might explain some of his views.

I very much dislike Pratchett. Just not my style.

American.

: Initial results of survey:
: 6 people have written to me so far. Thanks, people!
: However, I am a bit disappointed at not more contacting me.
: Results very roughly:
: Quite a few don't like Pratchett (considering his humour limited).
: A couple (and me) love him, finding him a very serious author
: who is usually very humourous too, but find his last two books disappointing.
: Eric Frank Russell remains widely unknown (forgotten), which is
: sad; ERF was a very interesting author (politically etc.).
: Just a small note: ERF wrote one of the most racist SF stories
: I have ever read, and he also wrote 2 of the most powerfully
: (deliberately) anti-racist SF stories I have ever read.
: There seems to be no Brit/Yank divide in cross-over fanship;
: two Brits love Vance & detest Pratchett, one loves both.
: One American loves both.
: A couple of Dutch have answered; where are all the Australians?
: And BTW, I'm German.
: Suan Yong's comment about Vance seems very comprehensively true.
