I always chuckle at Nissifer's "Ah, Cugel! Now you will learn the meaning of fetor!"
Vance must have one of the highest hit-rates of any writer inside or indeed outside sf in terms of bejewelled sentences. Just riffle through any of his mature works and you will find gems on whichever page you alight.
