The Vance authored 7/28/50 _The Potters of Firsk_ old time radio program Dimension X is available from the Radio Historical Association of Colorado (RHAC) along with 7 other Dimension X programs. Each program is 1/2 hour long complete with commercials. You can join RHAC for $25 the first year and $15 a year thereafter. You receive a catalog of 15,000 programs and can *rent* tapes one month for $2.50. Contact Herb Duniven at dunivenh@ix.netcom.com or RHAC at http://www.old-time.com. The shows were and are good, hard-core SF and well produced.
My wife and I listened to _TPoF_ Saturday night with the lights out and it was a scream. The story involves an approximation of the foreign service in outer space with Terrans adminstering to the primitives of the planet Firsk. Young, sensitive Tom is sent there for duty and his boss, an insensitive lout refers to the "gooks" living in mud huts. They are "all right as long as you know how to deal with them". This station chief is brought up short in the end, of course, but compared recent discussions of subtextual messages in The Anome pale in comparison.
