: : : Years ago I added a pair of pretty nice Science Fiction Book Club editions of Vance's first two Lyonesse stories to my collection. I did not belong to the SFBC then, and I still don't. My question is: DID THE CLUB EVER ISSUE THE THIRD TITLE ... MADOUC? If you have an extra, let me know ... thanks.

: : I guess I have a SFBC copy of Madouc. All three have Berkley and the same Berkley logo on the spine of the book and on the "spine" of the dust jacket as well. Suldrun and Green Pearl both say "Book Club Edition" on the front dust jacket flap. My Madouc does not. The first two had jacket art by Tom Canty. Madouc's is by Dawn Wilson. Although Madouc has Berkley on the spine, on the title page it's listed as an ACE book. Next page says this is an Ace original edition, and has never been previously published.

: : All three books are identical in size and thickness. The first two have a purplish cover color while Madouc has a blue cover.

: : So after looking all that up, now I'm not so sure if it is a book club edition.

: Book Club editions usually have no price on the dust jacket. If your copy lacks that, from what you have said about size etc. you can be pretty sure you have such an edition.

Thanks for the tip. Madouc has no price on it so guess it's a book club edition.
