I think what happened, based on various bits of data over the years, my own proclivities as I have aged, and my own reading of Heinlein, is that he was introducing racism, sexism, chauvinism, etc, in order to disparage them. I do not read anywhere in Heinlein that he approved of these behaviors and beliefs. In addition, as I posted elsewhere on this board, I think he became too blatantly preachy in his attempts to promulgate his own philosophy of life. This detracted somewhat from his later novels, though I enjoy them greatly, much more than I have enjoyed any more modern authors. I must admit that I preferred the older Heinleins even more, but a bad Heinlein is better than anyone else's best.
