Although not quite similar in writing style, Gene Wolfe has
written many books that IMHO are near equals to Jack Vance's
best stuff. The "New Sun" books will leave your lower jaw on
the floor, with drool pouring out. They are available in a
combined edition, or as separate books: "The Shadow of the
Torturer", "The Claw of the Conciliator" "The Citadel of the
Autarch" and "The Urth of the New Sun".
The series takes place (mostly) on Earth in the far future,
which makes it an interesting treat for fans of Jack Vance's
Dying Earth works.
