Well, he's used 'arse' before in, I think, one of the Demon Prince novels - some one was referred to as 'old stiffarse'. I assume, like me, you're English, so this is a commonly used extra-mild expletive, but (again, I'm guessing here) to your average American (more used to using 'ass' and 'butt') using 'arse' has a more archaic sounding, and archaic language used in a future setting is summat our Jack likes to use a lot.
Any of you lot 'cross the pond care to comment? Have I got that right?
Thinking about it, he's used 'bloody' and 'bugger' a lot too. Wash ya mouth out, Vance!
