I recently tried to introduce a friend to Jack Vance, but it
didn't take. He's more into hard SF. I chose Eyes of the Overworld as a good place to start, since that was my first exposure. (Actually my real first exposure was through Michael Shea's A Quest for Simbilis). There should be a web page
