: Thanks, money is no object so where do I get a nice hard cover edition of one of his books? I have no idea what he doesn't have. Sure, he has probably been on this page but I can't keep a secret anyway!
I suggest "www.abebooks.com", which lists books from hundreds of dealers. Go to their search page, type Jack Vance for the author, set binding to hardcover, and click the Signed checkbox. You'll see almost 100 books, many of which are the special limited editions in slipcases.
I would recommend the limited edition of PORTS OF CALL, his very latest book, for $75 (issue price.) Or, if you really love the guy, one of the leather editions for $160-$250. ($160 was the issue price, and there are still a couple available at that price.) The other option is to buy one of the older rare books, but these are more difficult because the value depends very much on the condition of the book, and it's hard to tell from a written description. (All dealers will accept a return if not satisfied, but usually only within a week.)
Some of the books there are way overpriced (in my humble opinion), so either post your decision here before buying, or email me directly.
