I haven't seen anyone else who's reported my experience: I was hooked for life on Vance after reading "Ecce and Old Earth." On top of that, I was unaware at the time (oblivious might be putting it better) that it was the second part of a trilogy. At any rate, my vocabulary and phraseology haven't been the same since.
