A while ago on this BBS it was reported that rock artist Robert Palmer, whose star is mentioned in the intro of 'Night Lamp', is a big Vance fan. I just finished rereading 'Planet of Adventure' and Jack Rawlins' 'Demon Prince' (Borgo Press, 1986). A reference to the Tunkers on Mizar Six (Star King, p. 85 or so) made me think of the Steely Dan song 'Sign in Stranger' on the album THE ROYAL SCAM (1976), which starts with the lyrics: 'Have you heard about the boom on Mizar Five/People got to shout to stay alive.' Becker and Fagen are big sf fans, but I didn't know they're also Vance fans. Anyone know?
Another association I had after finishing 'The Pnume' was with the David Bowie song 'Loving the Alien' (15 years ago or so). The video shows a musician dressed in a long dark-grey cape with a huge, wide-brimmed hat: pure Pnumekin dress! I'd guess Bowie is also a fan.
