I've read several of C.A.Smith's stories, and he definitely reached deep into Vance's mind. C.A.S's Zothique is a Dying Earth tale, with intersting stories and characters. Michael Shea also mined this vein, quite admirably. The best modern collection of Clark Ashton Smith is RENDEVOUZ IN AVEROIGNE, published by Arkham house a few years ago, and should still be available. Ballantine published several Smith paperback, edited by Lin Carter, such as ZOTHIQUE, HYPERBOREA, and others. These are hard to find, but well worth it. Smith's style is not as smooth as Vance's, but damn close.
