I'm reading Oliver Sacks' "The Island of the Colorblind" and on pages 21-22 it reads thus:
====begin quote====
...Ebeye...nearly fifteen thousand laborers on an island a mile long and two hundred yards wide, a tenth of a square mile...stuck in conditions of unbelievable crowding, disease, and squalor..."If you want to see hell, make a visit to Ebeye."
I had seen photographs of Ebeye -- the island itself scarcely visible, with virtually every square inch of it covered by tarpaper shacks...
====end quote======
Anyone else reminded of Lutwen Atoll in "The Cadwal Chronicles"?
